DECEMBER

We are starting off the first week of December with a fun little (and yes, it is a small one) painting called "Red Barn in Snow" on Tuesday, December 3rd at 7:00 pm.  This little landscape would make a great Christmas gift or addition to one's own holiday decorations.  Cost is only $20.00 and as always our artiste guru, Edi Smith, will be providing all supplies.  So wind down from Thanksgiving festivities with a relaxing night out or use the evening to inspire Christmas creativity.

Then on Saturday, December 7th the streets of downtown Liberty will be transformed into a Santa's Workshop for the annual Christmas Parade and street festival.  There will be plenty of shopping opportunities between the downtown merchants and the creations of the vendors.  From 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm watch for a Santa sighting during the Christmas Parade and don't miss the lighting of the Christmas Tree between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm.  

Off the Vine will be offering treats during the Christmas festivities. We will have a Holiday Special sandwich featuring turkey breast dressed with cranberry sauce, honey mustard, Fontina cheese and spinach.  Special samples will also be available.  Eggnogs will be making their return and this year Homeland Creamery's eggnog will be spiced up with some North Carolina distilled spirits.  Mulled wine will be available to warm the body and we have some winter ales from Carolina Brewery (Santa's Secret on draft), Natty Greene's popular Red Nose, Fireside Chat from 21st Amendment and Shiner's Cheer which will be pouring at special prices.  

This year Off the Vine is featuring two Christmas wines, both from Native Vines Winery.  Sugar Plum returns and Darlene is debuting a pear with hints of ginger wine called First Day of Christmas.

Origami Owl Jewelry Party 16 March 2013

From 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, March 16 you are invited to join in at Off the Vine as hostess Patsy Latham helps party attendees create a "living locket" with Origami Owl.  Whether one might want to tell their personal story or create a locket to tell someone how much they mean to them - would make a wonderful Mother's Day gift or unique way to commemorate a graduation or other milestone in a young girl's life - this promises to be a fun afternoon of creating something to express one's feelings and/or celebrate oneself!

March Calendar


 

March has arrived, not quite like a lion, but with a little more bluster than a lamb.   Spring is rumoured to be right around the corner; daffodils and pussywillows are whispering it is so.  We have an interesting calendar of March events lined up at Off the Vine, a preview of which is below and some "holidays" we may find a way to "create" a celebration around.  

March is National Irish American Heritage Month, National Nutrition Month, National Peanut Month and National Women's History Month.

3/3 - If Pets Had Thumbs Day - just think of the possibilities if your pet had an opposable thumb!

3/3 - Is also National Anthem Day.  The Star Spangled Banner officially became our National Anthem on March 3, 1931.

3/4 - Hug a GI Day!  Although the origin cannot be documented this explanation from Sabrina Honda, USAF sounds plausible; she believes the origin is because of the date.  It is the only date in the calendar that is an order ... March Fourth!   Whatever the origin, shaking the hand or giving a hug to a GI is always in order to say thank you for all they give.

3/5 - National Multiple Personality Day - unfortunately none of the personalites recorded the origin of this day.

3/12 - STEP Meeting at Liberty Town Hall 6:00 PM  Get involved in the future of Liberty!

3/15 - Beware the Ides of March!
